We took a close look at the four youth packages being offered by the four telecom operators in terms of tariff for calls (on - net , off - net & friends & family). During the comparison we came to a very basic conclusion besides the race of who wins or who loses which was the fact that all companies had very complex set of tariffs which are hard to interpret for a common person, without research and following all the details a lay man cannot find out what rate he is being exactly charged at what time of the hour unless he has done a thorough research like us offcourse !
In this Second Part we attempt to discover the different Sms packages & MMS rates being offered by the four operators.
We have selected three different variables on which to test the sms packages.
These are a) Variety of sms packages b) MMS rates c) Comparison of daily & weekly sms packages in terms of prices and quantity being offered.

Winner = 3 PointsRunner Up = 2 points

As before in case of a tie , 1 point each will be given to the operators.
Variety of SMS Packages:
We attempt to identify who is giving the most variety as far as sms packages are concerned. Variety in terms of daily/weekly/monthly package etc.
Jazz Octane : Jazz octane is not giving any especial package for its users , although users can use the add-on sms buckets which are available to subscribers of other packages as well. Total packages = None.
Ufone Uth Package : Daily Bucket & Weekly Buckets for Uth Package. Total Packages = Two
Djuice: Bundle 1 ,2 ,3 and 4 , Morevover Daily sms bundle. Total Packages = Five.
Glow By Warid : Weekly Package 1 & 2 and Daily Package . Total = Three.
Result
Winner : Djuice . 3points (5 options to choose from)
Runner Up: Glow by Warid : 2 points (3 options to choose from)
Lagger: Ufone Uth Package.1 point. ( 2 options to choose from)
Loser : Jazz Octane , 0 point.( none .. why??)
MMS RATES
Jazz Octane : 6rs / 50 KB . Receiving : Free.
Uth package: 1rs/64 KB . Receiving : Free
Djuice : 5.00 Rs / MMS . Receiving : Free
Glow : 3 Rs / MMS (on net MMS KB & off net KB) : Receiving: Charged accordingly.
Result
Winner: Uth Package : 3points
Runner Up: Djuice : 2 points
Lagger : Jazz Octane. 1 point.
Loser: Glow 0 points. (who charges for receiving??)
Comparison of Prices and Quantity on Daily & Weekly SMS packages:

Maximum Possible Points : 12 Points.
The result here clearly reveals that apart from variety where Djuice is the leader , Ufone offering sms packages for Uth package are best value for money as well as MMS charges are minimal that we could see.
Djuice is pretty close too , we believe Ufone's recent strategy to increase quantity on certain sms packages has pushed Djuice down a point. Never the less apart from daily and weekly sms Packages Variety wins with Djuice.
As for Glow we were highly disappointed to see the leader in Part - 1 slip down to third position. Sms packages are basic need of the youngsters and Glow has not given variety in sms packages. It is confusing too see that such important area of the packages has not been designed with smart strategy. Glow needs to offer more variety especially a monthly sms package would be a welcome treat.!! and Glow needs to get those incoming MMS free. No body is willing to pay for an incoming MMS.!! That era has gone when we had to pay for incoming calls and stuff.
For Jazz Octane, we think that it was launched without proper planning. When Jazz Octane Entered in to the market there was only one other brand catering to the young market segment , Djuice. At that time if Jazz Octane had shown some rigorous competition then others like Uth and Glow would have had a difficult time matching those rates and offers. Jazz Octane has lost the Sensation and Mobilink has lost valuable time in competing and getting applause from the young market segment . At this point of time we thinks its high time that Mobilink launches a separate exclusive brand for the youth. It will add value to the company's portfolio & image.
