Since many of us text fanatics admire the ease of messaging through Qwerty keypads and there seems to be a growing need of low priced Qwerty phones we thought it would be nice to compare and find out which Qwerty is better for use. So we searched in the market and found that only Samsung has two mobiles in our market that have Qwerty keypads and are under ten thousand. Apart from Chinese mobile phones there is currently no alternative other then Samsung. So we found two mobile phones both Qwerty keypad equipped and under ten thousand.
Samsung b3210 TXT as it is called is a candy bar phone with a full Qwerty keypad . It features a 2MP camera with 2.2 inch display and 40MB of on board storage. Other feature are Stereo Fm Radio with RDS, GPRS and EDGE , Bluetooth and USB support.
With a thickness of 12.9mm its almost exactly the same thickness as of Nokia E63 the latter being 13mm.
While we certainly think that ample plastic has been used in the body of b3210 it does not annoy much and we do not expect a premium aluminum body for a phone aimed at youngsters.
Messaging is fun as expected , with sms in threaded view it saves alot of time required for sending messages and emailing is also pretty good, although lacks full html support for emails.
It is equipped with a 2MP camera without any other amenity and for sure you can expect an average result from its camera satisfying your needs for a quick photo here and a small fun video there.
Samsung b3410 is also a Qwerty equipped phone with a slide. Its Qwerty keypad is in the form of a slide which can be popped out when required. That means the phone can be used in both landscape and Portrait mode.
Thickness is 16mm that is 3.1mm more then the b3210 but it sounds reasonable since it packs a sliding Qwerty and a bigger display.
Display is 2.6 inches TFT touchscreen. Thats an added advantage because the touchscreen can be used in portrait mode and you don't have to slide out the Qwerty keypad when you don't have the need to.
The Camera is similar to the b3210 we discussed before with 2MP and lack of other features like flash and auto focus. Again, that is adequate for fun photography and for essential needs of taking pictures on the go.
Internal memory is a mere 30 MB thats 10MB less then b3210 but it supports expandable memory for upto 8GB so memory is not a problem.
Messaging is a treat as expected in b3410 , the Qwerty keypad is sure to solve all your messaging miseries and threaded view is appreciable. Emailing is also not a problem with easy auto settings of all your email accounts.
Samsung b3410 has an integrated support for Gmail, Facebook , Flickr and Myspace. Twitter is missing though.

Our verdict is that there is only a slight difference in price in the two phones but b3410 is worth the price for under ten thousand rupees you get a full touch phone with a sliding Qwerty and larger display . Its worth It.!
