3G: Service to be available by end of 2011?

In a press release , PTA has informed that 3G services would be available in Pakistan by the end of current year. (Hopefully). The press release states:


The Secretary Cabinet Division, Mr. Abdur Rauf Chaudhry has said that 3G services would hopefully be available to the Pakistan mobile users by the end of 2011, while it is expected that the Policy for auction of 3G services licenses would soon be presented to the government and Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for discussion and approval. He said this while speaking at a seminar organized by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in collaboration with Qualcomm and Central Asian Cellular Forum (CACF) at Islamabad on 3G mobile services. The theme was “Opportunities for All: Development of 3G Devices in Pakistan”


While it has long been talked about the launch of 3G services, things have never materialized on time. Every time we are given a new date of commencement for auction of 3G license and we believe it thinking that this time it will definitely go as planned. 
This time we have another date, maybe this time we will get something because the only thing which we can do is hope and remain optimistic as we have remained in the past. While many cellular companies back in time remained hopeful that we will see 3G in Pakistan by 2007 or 2008 , no news gave any hope.


Mobile fanatics team hopes we will get 3G this year . While the world moves on 4G and LTE , our hopes of getting 3G aren't very huge and hopefully this year would be the year of 3G . If we don't get 3G this year, then we would say no to 3G and rather stick with the demand for 4G altogether. Cheers.!!
