Nokia X2-00 Review

Nokia threw another budget phone in the market named as Nokia X2-00. This is the first budget phone which packs in 5MP camera. So you may be wondering what's the use of a 5MP camera in a budget phone? the answer is it is a phone that has another niche focus. People who are camera crazy yet price conscious. The Nokia X2-00 attempts to target this market . So let's dig down further to see what this little fellow has to offer.

Design and Display:

Simple design is the first thing that one can evaluate from the first looks of the phone. A candy bar type phone, X2-00 offers a very small display just 2.2 inches which makes this budget phone a little boring. Especially surfing the web or seeing a video in such a small display is not a great deal . Weighting 82 g , it is a decent , easy to carry phone with simple looks and strong hand grip.

Aluminum back cover with brushed metal touch

The back of the phone has a 5MP camera lens, above which is the LED flash. The back cover is made of brushed aluminum that adds some more to its looks. Left side of the phone has dedicated music keys which are a standard for Nokia music series phones. There are also two stereo speakers which can be found at the bottom back of the phone.

The display of the phone is rather small just 2.2 inches and poor viewing angles make the display rather boring and dull.

User Interface and Connectivity
The phone runs on S40 which is what we mostly get in budget handsets but unlike in the low end budget phone the interface is responsive and logical.Although there is no multi-tasking support , there are quite a few applications which are quite good. Social network integration is also good. It also has OVI store application so that you can download any application you want from the OVI store.


Connectivity features include EDGE support , come equipped with opera mini . Email client is good and supports multiple email accounts.

Music experience
Since X2-00 is a music phone it does its job pretty well. It has dedicated music keys which are easy to press and the stereo speakers are of good quality and provide top notch sound.The player handles AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, MP3, WMA, AMR-NB formats.2DP profile is supported, allowing the use of stereo Bluetooth earphones.

The Camera
The camera is a 5MP with LED flash but lacks details in delivering results. The picture quality depicts a rather 3MP camera and the fixed focus feature does not do any good either.
The video recording quality is also average and the video playing feature for such a small display is rather disappointing.


Draw Backs and Final Words
The phone has a good amount of positives to it specially on the music side it has everything which a music phone should have . The drawbacks are

• 5MP camera is below its standard with fixed focus and average video recording
• A rather small display with poor sunlight legibility
• Battery not so powerful
• No multi tasking
• Without document viewer
• No WiFi

If you are buying the phone just because of 5MP camera then think again, the camera does not provide the same 5MP camera result which can be found in some other Nokia 5MP phones. Overall , its a decent package for the music features and audio quality it delivers with a good design. Although the display is small but it is adequate for its price. PKR 9,300!!! Cheers!
