Telenor Pakistan enters GSM Awards 2011 with high hopes

 Telenor Pakistan has entered in the 16th Global Mobile Awards to be held on February 15 in Barcelona. It is the most prestigious awards event of mobile and telecommunication industry.

This year there are nine different categories which are:

1. Global mobile application award
2. Mobile advertising and marketing
3. Best mobile business and enterprise
4. Social and economic development
5. Mobile innovation
6. Green mobile award
7. Best mobile devices
8. Best technology
9. Outstanding achievements award

Telenor Pakistan & Tameer microfinance bank is nominated in the third category which is Best mobile business and enterprise in the subcategory "Best mobile money product or solution". Other contestants in the same sub-category are Boku Inc for Paymo (San Francisco,USA), Hana Bank for Hana n Money (South Korea), Mastercard worldwide , Airtel Africa (Zap) and Standard Chartered Bank for MasterCard Zap card and SK telecom for T small wallet (South Korea).

Another category in which Telenor Pakistan and Tameer Microfinance Bank is nominated is the fourth cateogry which is Social and Economic development in the sub category "Best Mobile Money for the Unbanked service". Other competitors in the sub cateogry are MoreMagic Solutions and Splash Mobile Money Limited for Splash
MTN Uganda, Fundamo and Stanbic Bank for MTN MobileMoney (Uganda)
Orange for Orange Money
Vodafone Group, Safaricom, Vodacom, Vodafone Essar Limited and Roshan Ltd for M-PESA.

In 2010 Safaricom Limited won the award for M-Pesa in the category of "Best mobile money service" while Zain Bahrain won an award for offering "Zap" in the "best mobile money for the unbanked service" category.

The competition is really tough but we have high hopes that Telenor Pakistan will bring an award for us. We wish best of luck to Telenor Pakistan.
